Puppy 2
Puppy 2 continues to focus on the basic commands that every puppy needs, while adding the distractions that will ensure that your pup is reliable in real-life situations. Some of the skills you and your puppy will work on are: walking on a loose leash, polite greetings, and coming when called…all eventually without using food as a lure. Puppy 2 is designed to help you and your pup through the next phase in your pup’s development, a time when the pup’s instinct to follow is replaced by the need to investigate more. This phase is marked by the puppy’s starting to ignore you and testing to see what it can get away with. We call it the teenage phase and you can be sure you do not want to leave your pup to its own devices at this critical time in its development!

Rally Obedience (Rally-O)
Rally Obedience is a fun and exciting team sport for dogs and their handlers. In Rally-O, dogs and their handlers navigate a course guided by numbered signs, each of which indicates an exercise that they must perform successfully before proceeding to the next sign. The individual exercises are both fun and challenging. All dogs, purebred or mixed breed, may compete in Rally-O.
Rally-O Level 1 – In this introductory course, all of the novice level exercises…for example sit-down-sit, figure 8, and sit while handler walks around dog…are introduced. Dogs and handlers also work on basic heeling and recall skills. Whether you are interested in competing or just want to spend some extra time having fun with your dog, Rally-O offers a positive, fun environment in which you can sharpen your dog’s basic obedience skills and bond with your dog.

Introduction to Freestyle
Feel like dancing but hate the bar scene? Then bring your canine partner to our heated indoor facility on Friday nights at 6:30PM and learn some moves to dance the night away! This class is for the beginner dance team (your dog needs to be well-behaved and able to work off leach). We will focus on basic moves such as spins, weaves and variations on heel, all set to music. By the end of the session each team will prepare and individualized dance routine to perform whenever the mood strikes! This is a great opportunity to enhance the bond with your dog in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The skills learned easily transition to other areas like waiting in line at an agility trial or as parlor tricks to entertain faily and friends. Don't worry if you are "dance-challenged"; we will bring out the best in both of you. If you use a clicker, please bring it along with LOTS of yummy soft treats.

Introduction to Flyball
Flyball is catching on all over the country. Flyball races match two teams of four dogs each, racing side-by-side over a 51 foot long course. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the jumps, trigger a flyball box to release the ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps. The next dog is released to run the course but can't cross the start/finish line until the previous dog has returned over all 4 jumps and reached the start/finish line. The first team to have all 4 dogs finish the course without error wins the heat. Jump height for the team is determined by the smallest dog on the team.
Fit-N-Trim's Introduction to Flyball class offers the opportunity to try out the sport while getting the foundation needed to proceed to the next level. The class consists of an hour of instruction and 15-30 minutes of socialization and clean-up. The class meets once a week for 6 weeks and is limited to eight dogs. We recommend that there be two handlers per dog initially.
NOTE: Since dogs compete unleashed in close quarters, it is important that dogs participating in the class be well-socialized and have basic obedience training. Uncontrollable or agressive dogs will be evaluated and may not be able to continue.
This class meets once a week for 6 weeks. Cost $150.00
This class runs in the winter, e-mail if interested. |
